Anxiety can be hard to understand as people who have anxiety attacks often withdraw into themselves and pull away from their friends and family. This withdrawal from social activities and interactions can make it hard for others to get a understanding of anxiety.

Generally when we become stressed, a person knows quickly and effectively what they need to counter act whatever is causing the stress. However for those who suffer from anxiety they will find that they suffer from excessive amounts of feelings relating to fear, uncertainty or apprehension. In some cases, they may suffer an anxiety attack and yet they may not actually be under attack from anything or anyone. In many cases their anxiety will continue even once the threat has passed or been removed.

Understanding anxiety can be hard as there are many different types of anxiety that a person can suffer from and some are actually more severe than others. The more severe the anxiety then the longer the symptoms associated with the condition last and the way in which the person behaves can become more and more erratic.

If you are sitting in a group of 100 people it would be a fair estimate that 5 of them would have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, this basically means they are constantly worrying and in a anxious state of mind. I am sure you can appreciate how the constant worry and feelings of stress affect peoples physical as well as mental wellbeing.

It is not rare for anxiety to be just one of many medical problems that a person suffers from. When someone has a number of physical and possibly mental health issues it can become hard for a medical professional to spot anxiety in amongst them. Anxiety like any mental health issue is more complicated than it seems, it can be affected by something as simple as a diet or lifestyle change. You must be totally honest with your Dr when you go to see him tell him what you eat and drink as well as whether you are on any other medication (prescribed or not). - 32513
