Due to the imaginative mind of our children, they may experience constant fear. The fear may be associated from the things they saw on the media. Since they are children, they will have the tendency to confuse reality from fantasy. Mostly the fantasy is not very pleasing which leads to anxiety and panic attacks that hunt them nightly.

The fear of a child accelerates due to the additional darkness and aloneness. After the child has a nightmare, he would realize that he is surrounded by darkness. He will feel alone and hopeless. At this point, everything would accumulate and the child would feel hyperventilated and thus panic attack occurs.

The best option for your child is to let him decides if he can sleep alone at night. At a young age, he is still very vulnerable to fears. If you left him alone, he may develop a phobia which will hunt him for the rest of his life. The possible fears he may have are fear of darkness, fear of aloneness, and even fear of sleeping. For your child, turn on the lights. This will help him sleep more comfortably at night.

Before we tuck in our children, we must assure that they feel as secured as possible. Also, bear in mind that the foods that we intake may affect the way we view life. In other words, we should let the children eat sufficient amount of nutritious foods and keep they away from heavy foods before sleeping.

Furthermore, we shouldn't contribute to our children's anxiety. It is never a good idea to threaten the children with monster in the closet and under the bed.

If the child is still hunted by panic attacks, it is wise to seek medical advice as soon as possible. Probably, the child is suffering from something more. Keep in mind that the child's sleep is at stake here and if he can't have enough sleep, his stress level will fluctuate dramatically. - 32513
