We can categorize human personality in two section- Introvert and Extroverts. People who are open to change and do not have public fear belong to the second category whereas there is another section which is not comfortable in being a part of a large gathering and has restricted set of people in the circle. They are not keen on meeting new people and avoid interaction with outsiders.

When a person has fear of being a part of social event or avoid going to public gathering or meeting new people such cases are referred to as social anxiety and they sometime need professional help to recover from such ailment. They have to seek professional help for social anxiety treatments. Stammering, hating public meeting, shying, blushing and wanting to be alone are few basic symptoms of being an anxiety patient.

Approaching a psychologist is the best way of treating social anxiety. It does not require any medication or drugs but few counseling sessions. The progress completely depends on the patient as how soon he is willing to shed away the problems and live a normal life. A more known way to social anxiety treatment that the professionals or psychologists use is by introducing the patient to a group of people who share their story and experiences and listen to the person as he speaks.

This group generally comprises of family members, friends and outsiders who want to participate in the discussion of getting the patient out of anxiety. The family members in the group get replaced by outsiders as the patient improves with time.

Initially the person is encouraged to speak up by making him as comfortable as possible and his progress is monitored by the flow of the speech with each session that is carried out. Finally with each passing session the person becomes more confident to face larger gathering and put up his view point in a more effective and smooth manner.

A change in lifestyle can also help in getting out of this anxiety. A person having social anxiety needs to have a control over his eating and drinking habits. Having caffeine in drinks does make you more anxious and jittery, so avoid it. Though having drinks does calm a person's nerves but it has bad effects on a person's cognitive ability and this reduces his potential to deal with anxiety. So having caffeine and drinks should be avoided by people undergoing treatment for social anxiety.

Same as caffeine makes the patients more anxious similarly even smoking have a negative effect. It does not let the person relax and lighten up. Sleeping adequate hours is also very important to overcome social anxiety. To feel fresh and confident to face the society it is very important that you have a sound sleep in the night.

Today you will find lots of social networking sites which are easy to access and where a person can talk his heart out without putting up his identity.
